With mile after mile of unspoilt rolling heathland, scenic riverside views, endless forests to get lost in and a plethora of wildlife wandering freely, including deer, ponies and donkeys, the New Forest is the perfect destination for an escape to the country. Punctuated by just a few towns and villages, as well as plenty of attractions, natural wonders and outdoor activities, you’ll find all the ingredients for a great holiday in the New Forest.

Take a look at these beautiful New Forest cottages, where you’ll find beautiful countryside surroundings and the feeling of a home from home.

The Cider Press, Sway

Sleeping up to seven guests across its four bedrooms, this traditional cottage is bursting with character, including wooden ceiling beams and a warming wood burner perfect for those colder months. The delightful garden is perfect for summer and basking in the sunshine, though there are also plenty of wonderful places that can be visited straight from the doorstep. Numerous cycle trails surround the charming village setting of Sway, while there are also plenty of great forest walks to be enjoyed just five minutes away.

Glade Cottage, Burley

Glade Cottage is a perfectly presented cottage found on a forest track, a short stroll from Burley, a pretty village with an unusual connection to witches. Up to four guests are welcome to stay at this charming and well-decorated property, which also has a spacious and secluded garden – just over the fence you may even see a few New Forest ponies. Should you fancy escaping your village surroundings, Ringwood, Highcliffe (with its beach) and Salisbury are all within a reasonable distance.

Forest Corner, Godshill

Found on the western edge of the New Forest in the hamlet of Godshill, Forest Corner is the perfect place for a large get-together, with its five bedrooms, large dining area and even a conservatory perfect for socialising and relaxation. Leading out from the conservatory is the beautiful and sunny garden with a large lawn and barbecue area. Although Godshill has a terrific pub, a wider range of amenities can be found two miles away in Fordingbridge. From your doorstep you can also meet the roaming ponies and donkeys, as well as enjoying the several walks and bike rides available.

Spring Cottage, East Boldre

Packed with baby and child-friendly features, including a toddler bed, highchair and plenty of games and films for a rainy day, Spring Cottage is simply perfect for families. There’s plenty for adults to enjoy too, from the beautifully decorated rooms to the wood burner and the large garden, which even has its own boules court. With a village pub and shop, and plenty of walks and cycle rides to be enjoyed straight from the cottage, you’re even able to enjoy your holiday car-free. Should guests wish to explore further afield, charming Beaulieu, with its wide choice of attractions, is just two miles away.

Rightmans Place, Linwood

Set in the heart of the New Forest, and amongst 20 acres of its own land, Rightmans Place offers the ultimate peaceful escape for a large party (up to 11). Attention to detail has not been spared at this splendid property, with its stand-out feature being the spacious open-plan lounge/diner, which is sure to bring everyone together. Once you’ve explored the expansive grounds, you can explore the New Forest in any direction, while you’re also a short distance from the towns of Ringwood and Fordingbridge.
