Decorate a bread board

Decorate a bread board

Posted 7th September

This month the colourful autumn harvest has inspired us to get crafting, from felted brooches to a rustic flower arrangement, there’s plenty to inspire you for the season ahead

1. Begin by downloading and printing our ‘Painted Pumpkins’ template here.

2. Place the A4 template down on to your table. Use a soft, dark pencil to draw directly over the printed lines.

3. Place the template face down in position over your wooden board and tape or hold in place. Use the pencil to rub over the back of the pumpkin design; this will transfer the design on to the surface of the chopping board. Remove the paper sheet; you are now ready to start painting, if this seems daunting, practice on some paper beforehand.

4. Draw over the traced lines with a permanent white pen; this will give the lines more definition and make it easier to paint. Build up layers of acrylic paint* and experiment by adding colours together to get different shades. You can wipe away any mistakes with a damp cloth. When you have finished, leave to dry before displaying your beautiful creation.

*Warning, whether it is wet or dry, acrylic paint should not come into direct contact with food.

Assorted colour acrylic paints, £2 per 75ml tube, white Uniball Posca marker pen, £3, both Hobbycraft
