Photography Workshop: ‘Flowers Close Up’ at Barnsdale

Learn how to record the fragile beauty of flowers in close-up with award-winning botanical and garden photographer Hemant Jariwala. This inspiring course covers the use of light, composition and colour and includes lots of useful tips and new techniques which will change the way you see the plants in YOUR garden. The Great Chesil BioBlitz

Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) is hosting an exciting and fascinating all day BioBlitz event at its Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre on Sunday 25th June, with activities and events running from 8am to 5pm. People of all ages are invited and encouraged to join in with this large-scale wildlife survey of Chesil Beach and the Fleet Lagoon on what promises to be a really fun and informative day. Watercolour Painting Day: ‘Roses’

Join local artist Sandra Peck for a really enjoyable, relaxed and informative day .You can sit up close and watch her detailed demonstrations and then have a go at your own pace, with help as you need it throughout the day. Roses are one of the absolute favourites for watercolour and Sandra will show you her own techniques and useful tips for drawing the flower-heads and painting beautiful wet-into-wet petals. Everyone is welcome, from the more experienced artist to the absolute beginner, and an afternoon cream tea is included in the price. Price £65 including tea/coffee, cream tea and entry to the Gardens. Basic materials pack available for an extra £6. Bee Garden Party

The Bee Garden Party hosted by the BeeBeeC’s Martha Kearney and Classic FM’s Bill Turnbull. It’s in aid of the amazing charity Bees for Development, which helps people in the developing world create a sustainable living from beekeeping. The evening event is being staged with permission of Her Majesty The Queen, in her garden at Marlborough House on The Mall, where bee friendly flowers and Pollination Street are in full flower. As Marlborough House is HQ for the Commonwealth Secretariat, Baroness Patricia Scotland will open the event and bee hives from Commonwealth countries will be on display.
