Provide your plants with a little extra help as they grow

These rustic frames made of hazel are traditional, decorative and provide solid support for climbers.

1 The base for this pyramid consists of five strong hazel poles built into a tent shape. For greater stability and a larger climbing surface, pliable willow stems are plaited into a circle around the vertical staves.

2 Weave a second ring about 40cm above the first. Repeat this process all the way to the top.

3 Embellish it further with woven circles on the sides. For these, bend the willow stems into a wreath shape, fitting the diameter into the spaces left between the upright posts and the horizontal rings. Fasten them to the structure with twine, wire or willow.

4 The result is a unique piece that will give the garden a personal touch and provide your plants with the support they need to climb.
