A new campaign has launched that is emphasising the importance of healthy eating for dogs
Clean Eating for Dogs will educate pet parents about the benefits of a natural and balanced diet for their four-legged companions.
Devon-based manufacturer Forthglade has partnered with a pair of cocker spaniels, the Houndsley Brothers, to provide a downloadable guide that will tell owners the importance of a pure and natural diet for their pet.
The guide will provide owners with information on the tastiest and healthiest food for their dogs, while also identifying those which are rich in protein, vegetables and the essential vitamins and minerals that any healthy dog will need.
The guide will also advise on creating positive associations and good behaviour at mealtimes, while offering tips on using food when dog training.
Nick Jones, a canine behaviourist with more than a decade of experience, said: "In my work I frequently look at areas in the dog’s ‘family’ life to create a relationship that allows the animal to be well mannered, content and free from stressful behavioural patterns. The right food plays a massive role in creating the right associations, and providing a nutritious, natural and balanced diet is the very first step in achieving this; dogs will learn to relax and enjoy their environment."
Joint managing director Gerard Lovell commented: "When many people think of dog food, it’s typically unappealing dry kibble or highly processed wet food, filled with additives and dubious-sounding ‘derivatives’. Poor canine diet leads to a poor association with mealtimes, fussy eaters, as well as lack luster coats, bad breath, unpleasant or irregular bowel-movements and even disease. Owners will be amazed by the changes in their dogs when they switch to clean, nutrient-dense dog food."
