The Capability Brown Festival 2016 has already seen a wide range of celebrations and events to commemorate the life and times of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, including baking competitions and music festivals
This will continue into autumn, where there will be a wide range of celebratory events including a stunning light commission at one of Brown's hidden gems, Compton Verney. There will also be a number of events showcasing Brown's parklands as the autumnal leaves start to fall down.
Here are just a few of the exhibitions taking place:
Exhibition: Lenses On a Landscape Genius
The Building Centre, London

This exhibition brings together leading photographers to explore and celebrate the work of ‘Capability’ Brown.
Exhibition: A Capable Businessman
RHS Lindley Library, London
Until 28 October 2016
The first ever display of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown’s account book, which reveals astonishing amounts of money paid to Brown for transforming the English landscape during his lifetime.
IN LIGHT: Illuminating Compton Verney
Compton Verney, Warwickshire
29 October – 13 November
The 18th century mansion, Capability Brown’s Bridge and recently renovated Chapel will be illuminated. Other activities include light drawing and creating solar jars on the themes of water and leaves.

Members of the Embroiderers’ Guild display unique textile and stitch artwork, inspired by Capability Brown.
Park Explorer at Petworth Park
Petworth House & Park (cared for by the National Trust)

Use new interactive technology to find out about the history of Petworth, via a series of discretely placed Wifi hotspots within the parkland, pleasure gardens and house itself.

Exhibition: Terrestrial Delights: Capability Brown and The Bowood Landscape

This exhibition tells the story of the development of Bowood’s beautiful parkland, with original maps of Bowood’s landscape before and after giving a rare insight of what Browns work replaced.
