The arrival of March brings with it the first burst of spring bulbs and flowers, full of colour and amazing scent. Whether inside or out, our pretty projects are designed to celebrate the new season

1. Start by downloading our template here.

2. Print out the template and tape to your work surface. Tape a piece of stencil Mylar over the top. Cut the design out with a craft knife or hot stencil cutter.

3. Position the stencil on the side of the crate and tape in place; use the dotted line to ensure the stencil is straight on the crate. Stencil the flower heads with yellow acrylic paint; take care not to paint the stalks or leaves. Next paint the stalks and leaves with green acrylic paint. Remove the stencil and leave to dry.

Knagglig pine crate, £5, IKEA. Cut master stencil tool, £24.95; A4 Mylar stencil sheets, £3.98 per pack of 10, both Amazon (prices may vary)
