A country retreat

The charming Thrushell valley near Launceston is home to Devon Country Barns’ five luxury self-catering holiday cottages each with its own hot tub and toasty log burner

- Pet-friendly accommodation
- Properties come with free Wi-Fi, coffee machines and underfloor heating
- Ideally situated for Widemouth Bay
- Car available for hire to explore surrounding countryside

The five traditional houses are equipped with underfloor heating throughout, they also sport granite topped oak kitchens with coffee machines and the living areas offer free Wi-Fi, DVD players and flat screen TVs with Free View and surround sound systems.

The barns sit within 12 acres of land with river frontage and are within easy reach of Widemouth Bay, one of the best beaches in Cornwall, and close to Lydford Gorge the deepest gorge in the South West with 30m waterfalls. The town of Tavistock, gateway to Dartmoor, is also within easy reach.

Dogs are welcome in all of the barns and can enjoy walks in the surrounding fields. The bottom field runs down to the Thrushell River, which dogs can splash around in and there are some tables and umbrellas there too – great for relaxing on sunnier days. There are also wonderful dog friendly Dartmoor pubs within easy reach.

Guests with pets can also take advantage of two sets of kennels at the barns; these can all be locked and secured. The new ones up near the owner’s house even have Tuffies bedding, heat and light

Close by is glorious countryside for walking, cycling, riding, fishing and shooting.  For an extra charge guests can even hire a red or silver Jaguar E-Type – perfect for exploring Devon’s country lanes.

A week’s stay for two costs from £900. (www.premiercottages.co.uk, 07500702248). Hire an E-Type from £395 per day or £695 for the weekend.
