The UK's best fish and chip shop has concluded it's tour of the UK, giving out 2,000 free portions of fish and chips to lucky passers-by in the process
The striking green 'Kingfisher Fish & Chips on the go' van visited five UK cities with 400 portions served in each location.
The tour was part of The National Fish & Chip Awards' 30th anniversary celebrations, which covered almost 1,000 miles and stopping in Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and London.
As well as giving away free fish and chips, Seafish, organisers of the road trip, asked fish and chip lovers across the country to let them know how they like to eat theirs.
Marcus Coleman, Chief Executive at Seafish, organisers of The National Fish & Chip Awards, said: "Fish and chips are undeniably British. Whether served with ketchup, mushy peas or one of the more unusual condiments, not much else compares to a piping hot portion."
"From Glasgow to London, locals came out in their thousands to get a taste of the UK’s best fish and chips, and gave rave reviews as they experienced first-hand exactly why Kingfisher are the number one fish and chip shop."
"We’ve always known that our country has a special place in its heart for fish and chips – after all they’re a British institution - but the response and engagement received on the road trip has been phenomenal."
