Humans of the Waterway: Phil, Tim and Pru

In the latest of our Humans of the Waterway series, courtesy of the Canal and River Trust, we hear from Phil, Tim and Pru on the Mon & Brec

"In June, Great Canal Journeys came to film on our beautiful Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal (Mon & Brec) complete with its stars Timothy West and Prunela Scales. As an amateur historian and archivist for the Mon & Brec, and one of the South Wales & Severn Waterways volunteer partnership partners, I had been working with them for a couple of months prior to filming looking at locations and the canal’s history. The production team even referenced my book ‘The Mon & Brec Guide’ for the programme. As you can see I filmed with them at Llanfoist and can I say what a charming couple they are.

From Llanfoist they wanted to film the Pwll Du tram road up at the site of the old Garnddyrys Forge. Unfortunately, it was so windy it was too dangerous to get them out of the car. It was a most enjoyable day.

The boat was lent by Castle Narrow Boats driven by Ken Drew and the smaller boat was driven by Dave Allen of Dragonfly Cruises. As you can see Dave couldn't wait to photo bomb the ‘stars’ as did Dave Morgan, our South Wales & Severn development and enterprise manager."
