Celebrate Easter with English Heritage

Posted 1st Mar 2016

This Easter, English Heritage will be putting on some fantastic family events across the country, from Easter egg hunts, a children's festival and fire breathing jesters to knights, gladiators and a soldier school

Children's Festival, Dover Castle, Kent

From Friday 25th March to Monday 28th March, you'll be able to travel back in time with Peterkin the Jester, to a time where Roman gladiators will be seeking new recruits and medieval knights and princesses roam freely. There will be the opportunity to meet Victorian toymakers and make your own toy to take home with you, or why not find out if your little soldiers are able to tackle the WWII assault course and diffuse the 'bomb' in time. There will also be an opportunity to learn how knights train and more about their code of conduct. Meanwhile Peterkin will be showing off his fire-eating while on stilts in what promises to be a fun and action-packed day for kids of all ages. Tickets are available online or on the door.

Easter Adventure Trails, Belsay Hall (Northumberland), Walmer Castle (Kent), Bolsover Castle (Derbyshire), Kenwood (London), Kenwilworth Castle (Warwickshire), Carlisle Castle (Cumbria), Beeston Castle (Cheshire), Birdoswold Roman Fort (Hadrian’s Wall)

From Friday 25th March to Monday 28th March, prepare yourself to get involved in an epic Easter quest, where only the most adventurous of individuals will be able to join. Meet characters from the past while cracking clues on a historic hunt that you won't forget. If you rise to the challenge expect a chocolate reward, as you get hands-on with history. Tickets are available online or on the door.

Train the troops, Pendennis Castle, Cornwall

From Friday 25th March to Friday 1st April, prepare yourself to join the castle guard in what is set to be a packed day full of action and soldier training at Pendennis Castle for the family. Shape up before shipping out and brace yourself for commando training which will put you through your paces. Tickets are available online or on the door.

Osborne Easter Fun, Stokesay Castle, Shropshire

Get ready to experience a whole range of fun, games and pastimes which would have been enjoyed by children in Victorian England at this brilliant family event. How would royal children have lived and played at Osborne? Find out as you explore Stokesay Castle. Tickets are available online or on the door.
