Leading the way with Lavender

Leading the way with Lavender

Nothing evokes the spirit of early summer better than the aromatic scent of lavender. This month, be inspired by this floral favourite to create selection of easy crafts

1 Begin by downloading our ‘Fish’ template here or send a stamped self-addressed envelope to ‘Fish template LLMAY18, LandLove Magazine, HBMUK, The Tower, Phoenix Square, Colchester, Essex, CO4 9HU’. Print the template onto A4 paper. Cut around the outside of the fish shape.

2 Fold a small piece of linen fabric in half and then pin the template onto the linen fabric. Cut around the template and remove the pins.

3 Pin the two fish shapes together. Stitch a straight running stitch around the outside of the fish shape about 1cm in from the outside edge, leave the tail end open.

4 Turn the fish right side out and fill with dried lavender.

5 Stitch the tail closed with several rows of zigzag stitches.

6 To finish, stitch a small button for an eye. Repeat to make as many as needed. We made four fish, each using different coloured linen.

Tip: You can increase the size of the template to make bigger fish by altering the size when you print.
