As wedding fever grips the nation, it's been found that four in 10 UK pet owners would want to see their four-legged friend at their wedding day
A study, conducted by Natures Menu, found 40 per cent would want their pet to play a part at their wedding, with potential roles including ring bearer (22 per cent), appearing in official photographs (20 per cent), engagement photos and save the dates (11 per cent), and walking down the aisle as a bridesmaid (11 per cent).
Five per cent said they would make their dog their best man or groomsman too.
It seems to be something the younger generation are more inclined to do, with 56 per cent of 18-24-year olds saying they couldn't imagine the big day without them.
The main reasons to have a pet at the wedding were:
1 Pets are a key part of the family so must be there (56 per cent)
2 The pet will keep guests happy (44 per cent)
3 They would be too missed if they weren't there (31 per cent)
4 The pet would look great dressed up (17 per cent)
5 They'd make the photos more interesting (17 per cent)
Claire Miller, Head Vet at Natures Menu, said: “It’s no surprise that so many people would consider having their four-legged friend attend their wedding day and even give them a role to play.”
“Pets are no longer just pets and are now considered an integral part of the family. Having an animal around the house has become a common part of many cultures and our bond with our furry-friends has grown over the years. We love them just as much as much as humans and it is important that we provide our pets with a good, healthy diet that provides them with all the nutrients that they need to thrive.”
