This week is the RSPCA's Freedom Food ‘Farm Animal Week' helping to make a difference to the lives of farm animals. The more people that buy Freedom Food labelled products, the more retailers will be persuaded to stock them and the more producers will rear their animals to RSPCA welfare standards
During the week, the charity is asking you to ‘Switch one for welfare'. You may already be buying Freedom Food labelled eggs, so why not make your shopping basket even more ethical by choosing higher welfare Freedom Food labelled meat, poultry or salmon?
Sainsbury's will once again be donating 5p to the RSPCA to support its farm animal work when shoppers buy selected Freedom Food labelled products between Wednesday July 3rd and Sunday 21st July.
To celebrate Farm Animal Week 2013 (July 15th - 21st) Freedom Food, the RSPCA's food labelling scheme, has published a new Celebrity Recipe Collection, featuring recipes from top chefs including James Martin, Gary Rhodes, Peter Gordon, and Mark Hix. The book, offering a total of 37 full colour recipes, combines celebrity chef recipes with contributions from Freedom Food farmers and top restaurants that support the charity's ‘Simply Ask' campaign. Click here to view some of these recipes or here to win a copy!
All the contributors are supporters of higher welfare standards for farm animals and encourage cooks to look out for ethical labels such as the RSPCA's Freedom Food when shopping for meat, poultry, salmon, dairy and eggs.
